After boarding a bus in Lewisham, this yob dismantled CCTV cameras, causing hundreds of pounds damage.

The sequence of pictures supplied by the police shows he boarded the bus in Belmont Hill at 9.58am, on August 14.

He went to the top deck of the route 89 bus and at 10am he grabbed a visible dome-type camera, unaware he was being filmed by its covert counterpart.

But before he left it hanging from the roof, he started to tamper with the concealed camera and disconnected it.

From analysing the footage, police do not believe he committed any other offences before leaving the bus at Bexleyheath Broadway at 10.36am.

The vandalism of the two cameras cost more than £500 to repair.

l The Met's drive to combat crime under Operation Seneca, originally piloted in Lewisham in September 2000, has now been renamed Operation Lancet.

HE'S STILL ON THE LOOSE

Police have re-released details of one youth they are still trying to catch after he was caught on camera vandalising a bus on March 4, this year.

This yob boarded the route 89 bus in Loampit Vale, Lewisham, at 4.23pm and during his journey to Welling High Street, scrawled graffiti on a window.

His mindless actions resulted in a cost of more than £150 to replace the window.
