WENDY Butler, who runs Anonymous Hairdressers in Salisbury and has, for years, been keeping many of the staff at the district hospital neat and tidy, has handed over a cheque for £1,042.55 to the hospital's Stars Appeal.

The money will go to Radnor Ward, where one of Wendy's family was in intensive care last year.

Her relative made a superb recovery and the family were delighted with the care she received. Wendy wanted to say thank you, so decided not to send Christmas cards to her clients and asked them to do the same - and instead donate what they would have spent to a collection she set up for the ward. She made a recent visit there to present the money she raised.

Senior Nurse Kim Dunn said: "We are always amazed and touched by the generosity and thought which goes into raising funds for our unit. The money will go a long way to giving chances for our nurses to attend extra training which, in turn, will benefit our patients."
