New Stars Appeal Campaign - Caring 4 Kids

AN ambitious fundraising drive gets underway today aimed at amassing £1m to help fund state-of-the art facilities for a new children's centre at Salisbury District Hospital.

It is called the Caring 4 Kids campaign and is the latest initiative of the hospital's Stars Appeal which, through the generosity of the community, local organisations and businesses provided funding last year for a keyhole cancer operating theatre and new life-saving equipment for the neo-natal intensive care unit.

Now the charity is asking for your help in reaching the target for the new children's centre, which will provide care, treatment and therapy for more than 6,000 children a year from across Wiltshire and parts of Dorset and Hampshire.

The total cost of the project is £4m, with the Caring 4 Kids campaign contributing towards extra facilities. These will include parents' accommodation, a multi-sensory therapy room, indoor and outdoor play areas and special rooms for children with cancer and those requiring long-term dependency care.

Here, with the help of some of the children whose lives depend on the loving care and treatment they receive at the hospital, we tell you why the centre and new facilities are needed. And we tell you how the appeal team aims to raise the money needed - and how you can help.
