MPs return to Parliament this week with a full slate of debates and meetings.

Unfortunately, my voice has yet to recover from a bout of Christmas flu so I will have to be unusually quiet for a few days.

However, I can still write and communicate in a forceful whisper and this is enough to deal with some of the most urgent local issues and make plans for the New Year.

* Firstly, I am meeting the head of the Great Western Ambulance Service to ask why it took more than two hours to help a lady who had fallen on ice in Ludgershall - a delay with tragic consequences - and what is being done to improve services to those living in the south east of the constituency where a slow response time is reportedly common.

* Secondly, I am following closely the development of the Wilshire Core Strategy and paying particular attention to the balance between housing, jobs and infrastructure.

* Thirdly, with more than 10,000 armed forces personnel living in the Devizes constituency and with my new job as PPS to the defence secretary, a visit to the front line in Afghanistan is a priority for me this year and I am also working with the MoD to see what more can be done to support service families and service leavers.

* Also, along with a group of cross-party MPs, I will be presenting our report on the parliamentary inquiry into online child protection to the prime minister in the next few weeks.

* Finally, and most importantly of all, I will continue to ask my constituents what I can do for you.

* I will also be holding my regular advice sessions all around the constituency and if you would like to attend one of these or if I can help you with anything else then please do telephone my local office on 01380 729358, email me at claire.perry.mp@parliament.uk or write to me at the House of Commons.
