A PUBLIC inquiry into plans for Tesco and Asda superstores in Amesbury will begin early in the New Year.
A government inspector will conduct the hearing at the Bowman Centre in Archers Gate, Amesbury.
It will start on January 13 at 10am and is expected to last two to three weeks.
Salisbury District Council approved planning applications from both store chains earlier this year.
Tesco wants to develop its store on a site off London Road, while the giant Asda would be at Solstice Park.
The final decision on whether they can go ahead rests with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Further details of the inquiry are available from the council’s appeals administrator, Jenny Strange, on 01722 434364.
