THERE were some disbelieving stares last night as a tornado formed over the Figsbury Rings.
The funnel appeared over the outskirts of Salisbury at about 8.25pm, witnessed by a group of Scouts working on their athletics badge at the Laverstock sports field, who couldn’t believe their eyes as it grew until it almost reached the ground.
Group Scout Leader Dave Waspe said: “It was an amazing sight. The children thought it was brilliant. The event had been cancelled twice before by rain and now we had the possibility of a tornado.”
Scout Callum Parker said: “We’re doing extreme weathers as a subject at school, this will be great to talk about in class next week.”
