Sting performs at cathedral
ROCK star Sting and his wife Trudie Styler were two of the high profile
performers in a special charity concert held in the Trinity Chapel at Salisbury Cathedral on Saturday.
The production, Twin Spirits, written and directed by John Caird, explored the music and writing of Robert and Clara Schumann, portrayed in readings by Sting and Trudie Styler with actor Charles Dance narrating.
Guest musicians included cellist Natalie Clein, soprano Rebecca Evans and
baritone Simon Keenlyside.
Sting and Trudie Styler have a home at Lake House, Wilsford-cum-Lake, near Salisbury, and the event was in aid of the Salisbury Cathedral choral foundation.
Sting and Trudie Styler have each donated a self portrait specially created for a silent fundraising art auction being held at Salisbury Playhouse next Thursday in aid of the Playhouse capital campaign.
Other self portraits include Melvyn Bragg and Howard Goodall, patrons of the capital campaign, as well as artists from the region, including Howard Phipps, Mary Fedden and Bill Toop, who have donated work to sell at the auction.
The event which starts at 6pm is open to anyone, and any unsold artwork from the night will be available for sale on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2. To book a place, telephone theatre secretary Lyn Flack on 01722 320117.
