JESS, the ‘lost and found’ lurcher I wrote about in my column two weeks ago, has gone missing again, and I am appealing to Journal readers to help find her.

She is a very nervous dog, and on Wednesday (27th) she was spooked by a supermarket trolley, slipped her collar and ran off in the Southampton Road area.

Volunteers from the Facebook groups Missing Dogs Salisbury and Find Jess, The Missing Lurcher, have been searching the city ever since, and are very concerned for her welfare.

The most recent sighting was on the ring road close to the St Mark’s roundabout at midday on Saturday, though she was running very fast through the traffic, and could be anywhere.

All the local taxi firms have been alerted and their drivers are keeping a lookout.

Jess looks similar to a whippet, with brindle (brown/grey streaky) colouring.

She had just been rehomed, and her new owners do not want to be named. If you see her, the number to contact is a helpline, 07973 515852.

If she’s running, please don’t chase her as she will panic. As soon as you can, report which way she is heading.

If she’s lying down or sleeping, sit quietly close by but not facing her, throw treats to keep her near you, but don’t try to grab her.

Phone the same number and await help.
