PORTON Sports and South Newton & Wishford played out a cracking Bledisloe Cup quarter-final that went to extra time.

Luke Nicklen's audacious 50-yard ball released Doug Malcolm to put the hosts 1-0 up, but Newton eventually found a way past Ben Hatt to level before half time through Mickey Ball.

Porton scored almost immediately after the re-start, a great turn and volley by Doug Malcolm. The visitors were then reduced to ten men, when Dan Targett received a straight red card, but still managed to equalise again, from a free kick that was originally given as a penalty, headed in by Dave Warburton for his fifth of the season.

Porton made the most of the extra man in extra time, Malcolm completing his hat trick from the spot after he was brought down by Paul Merritt. Then he set up Ade Hale for the fourth and final goal, and Newton's Micky Tutton was shown a red card after the whistle for dissent.

In the WC Stokes Cup, Nomansland & Landford thrashed West Harnham 9-1. Dan Jones smacked in a rebound for the first goal, but Harnham equalised with a penalty right on half time.

Early in the second half, Jones finished a neat move and Dan Hayward cracked in a drive. Veteran Colin Hayward's header was deflected in, then Jones scored two more to take his tally to four. Ben Gauntlett grabbed a brace and Lloyd Hutchinson completed the scoring near the end.

Boscombe Down Rec Club needed extra time to beat Winterslow in the Heseltine Cup. They were a goal down at the break thanks to a penalty. Robbie Homebury equalised after a scramble and good saves by the goalkeeper.

Charlie Croker then finished Harry Gale's superb pass, but Winterslow took the game to extra time late on. Homebury restored Boscombe's lead with a lob from Nick Voce's inch-perfect pass, then Danny Goodall squared for Croker to make it 4-2, his 17th in eight games for the club.

Ash Melvin ensured Deacon Alms a share of the points in the 1-1 draw at Tisbury United. Their reserves got off to a flyer at Enford, Josh Fryer firing in within the first minute. The home team equalised but Craig Dowdell and Rich Daley handed Deacons control.

The young Enford side found two quick goals to level in the second half, then Dowdell produced a screamer and skipper Tom Symes finished a great move to make it 5-3.

On Sunday, unbeaten AFC Amesbury Athletic made it to the semi-finals of the Pete Fardell Cup with a 6-0 hammering of Amesbury Town.

Ollie Roe got the opener, then Matt Chant made it two from 30 yards and Tom Plant scored from the edge of the box before half time. Harvey Coker made it four with a header, Town added an own goal, and Danny Young completed the rout.
