A STOPPAGE time penalty denied Salisbury City a seventh win on the road and the league double over AFC Hornchurch.
Michael Spencer’s own goal put the leaders ahead after 29 minutes, and after a steady second-half, it looked promising that Salisbury had collected the points, but the game turned on its head in the final quarter.
A bobbling ball appeared to have struck the arm of Brian Dutton and the referee showed no hesitation and awarded Hornchurch a penalty, which was dispatched by Martin Tuohy in the 79th minute.
The leveller lasted momentarily, as two minutes later, Jamie White restored the visitors’ lead with a toe-poked effort.
But an away victory, which looked concluded, was not install and one last turn hit the Stadium.
Joe Woolley’s launched goal-kick was met by Tuohy, who was allegedly tripped by Dutton inside the area and the Urchins were handed their second penalty of the afternoon at the death.
Tuohy remained composed and his strike salvaged the hosts a vital point.
The Whites will be hoping to make a quick recovery when they lock horns with rock-bottom Truro City on Tuesday evening at the Ray Mac (7:45pm).
