DANNY Young’s injury time winner sent Bemerton Heath Harlequins screaming into the last 16 of the FA Vase with a 3-2 win over Sydenhams Premier opposition Blackfield & Langley on Saturday.
In a manic cup tie, Harlequins’ skipper Jack Slade edged his side in front with a drilled effort after 19 minutes.
On the half-hour mark Young made it 2-0 with a collective finish from inside the area, but a minute later, Dave Ewen reduced the deficit with a fancy finish.
Although both teams let a throng of chances go begging, in the first of the ten minutes of injury time added on, Ben’yela Ngwa thought he’d saved Blackfield’s cup dreams with a 91st minute equaliser.
But two minutes later, Young broke the visitors’ hearts and instead setup an away tie at either Spennymoor Town, in County Durham or Lordswood, in Kent on Saturday, February 9 (3pm).
Full reaction from Ian Chalk on Bemerton’s cup heroics, will appear in Thursday’s Salisbury Journal.
