PORTON Sports continued their impressive form, after beating Durrington Dynamos 4-0 in the Premier Cup last week, with a thumping 9-0 victory over Whiteparish in the league.

They took the lead after ten minutes, Andy Fung’s run and shot squirming under the goalkeeper. That was it until the second half, when Whiteparish hit the post. Porton soon gained control again, Andy Mearns tapping home at the far post, then Mearns scored the goal of the game, picking the ball up on the edge of his own box and rifling a low shot into the corner at the end of a fantastic 60-yard run.

Substitutes Dan Booth and Matt Lucas both scored with virtually their first touches, firstly Lucas heading in then a minute later Booth finished a one-two with Mike Budd by firing into the top corner. Booth then returned the favour with a headed knockdown for Budd to net the sixth.

Lucas claimed his second of the game, slotting a one-on-one in off the post, and Budd grabbed two late goals to complete his hat-trick.

In Division One, Enford picked up their first points of the season, beating West Harnham 4-3. A hat trick for striker Jack Jenkins, great midfield play from Kyran Lewis and good goalkeeping from Andy Williams saw the home team go 3-0 up. Harnham's Dave Compton replied just before half time to make it 3-1.

After the break Harnham reduced the deficit to 3-2 with a long range goal from Dan Hartley but man-of-the-match Jenkins restored Enford's two-goal advantage, before Harnham pulled back a late goal.

FC Salisbury United are top of the Swindon Futsal league after an emphatic 14-5 win over Baker Street. The victory included goals from every outfield player - Seb Dawes (six), Toz Judd (four), Michael DAguiar (one), Mike Davani (one), Perry Cocking (one) and debutant James O’Hara (one).

It was only 4-3 at the break, and player-coach Geoff Bonner described it as a game of two halves.

“At the interval we decided to blast them off the pitch with our quick ‘tiki taka’ style passing,” he said.

“It worked, and it’s fair to say that they simply couldn’t live with the increased high tempo we had set.

"Captain Seb Dawes was deservedly given man of the match by the league officials, but it was a real team performance with every individual doing their bit and showing a Corinthian work ethic combined with plenty of individual flair.”

The Corinthians' next league fixture is on Sunday, April 7 against Swindon RFC at the Swindon Futsal Arena (7.45pm).
