SALISBURY City player-manager Darrell Clarke is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of the chaotic Easter period in Conference South.

Potential league doubles over relegation threatened Tonbridge Angels tomorrow (3pm) and Bath City on Easter Monday (3pm) are in the making for the Whites during the bank holiday weekend.

But Clarke told the Journal he is solely concentrating on the team’s own game and not taking any notice of the clubs around them.

“It’s an important period for us, as you’d expect, and we’re not going to look too far ahead,” he said. “We must focus on our game and concentrate on getting six points.

“Tonbridge, especially, are fighting for their lives and it’s going to be another tough test.”

The Siberian conditions have tampered with Clarke’s plan to keep on Welling United’s tails, as both clashes with Sutton United (rearranged for Monday, April 22 7.45pm) and Dover Athletic were postponed.

“The lads are a bit disappointed because of the recent fixtures being cancelled but Saturday was always going to be a doubt because of the weather.

“It has been a crazy season for fixtures, so we just have to get on with the rescheduled matches.

“It’s something we’re used to by now and I’m sure everyone else in the league is as well.

“The team have been working hard on the training pitch since our great performance at Weston-super-Mare.”

Clarke, who has had a threadbare squad of late due to illnesses and injuries, added the majority of his team are nearly fully fit. “There are not too many serious injuries or concerns to worry about which is good.”

Some of the players, including Stuart Sinclair, who has been out for the past few weeks, is set to return for both six pointers.

Full reaction from both matches in next Thursday’s Salisbury Journal.
