SALISBURY City boss Darrell Clarke says sleepless nights will carry on a little longer until his side’s destiny in Conference South is settled.

Salisbury face taxing away trips to Sutton United and Basingstoke Town, before hosting in-form Havant & Waterlooville.

But next up is a day out to Billericay Town, who are edging closer to the prospect of relegation.

Clarke, pictured right, said: “Billericay are fighting for their lives and it’s another game we need to win. We know it’s not going to be easy though.

“We’ve still got a game in hand which we need to win and ideally Welling United need to drop six points out of their three remaining matches for our title hopes to stay alive.

“We’re back training today and we are never resting; there’ll be more sleepless nights for the manager.”

Clarke was left wanting more than the point they earned late on Tuesday night against Dover Athletic, which means they’re still chasing an eight-point gap at the summit.

Clarke added: “I’m very frustrated coming away with a point, so you can imagine how annoyed I’d be if we didn’t collect anything.”

“We kept going until the end and got our reward but I think we were very unfortunate not to win the game.

“This team have come from behind a lot of times this season and got something out of the game. It was heartbreaking not to score in the first half but we’ll keep going and that’s the way we roll.

“The character of the players ensured we kept on fighting and got a goal.

“I’m just a little bit disappointed we didn’t do better with the chances we created.

"I thought we played well despite being sloppy with the ball a few times. Dan came on for 30 minutes, did well and deservedly got his goal.”
