Skrill Premier

Salisbury City 3

Chester 1

Half time: 1-1

SALISBURY City marched into ninth spot in Skrill Premier as they came from behind to see-off early strugglers Chester in an eventful but ill-tempered affair at the Ray Mac – with both sides finishing with ten men.

Joe Heath’s 14th minute opener, from a neat set-piece, was cancelled out shortly before the half-hour mark through Dan Fitchett’s glancing header.

The hosts then edged the close-knit encounter, as within a minute of Jamie White emerging from the bench, he setup Elliott Frear who sent a crashing volley into the top corner.

Things remained fairly frantic until Clovis Kamdjo nodded his maiden Salisbury goal with five minutes to go from a corner, which rubbed salt into last season’s Conference North champions’ wounds – on the verge of slumping to their sixth Skrill Premier defeat.

Yet there was still drama to come at Old Sarum as a melee unfolded in the closing stages.

But before that occurred, a parachute bizarrely arrived from the skies and descended onto the pitch – leaving everybody staggered.

Angus MacDonald, on his Salisbury debut, saw red for violent conduct along with Shaquille McDonald, completing his move to The Blues on Friday night, who kicked and swung a punch at James Clarke. The dismissals, however, were not witnessed by a “delighted” Mikey Harris who was too busy screaming instructions from the sideline.

“I didn’t actually see the sending offs,” admitted Harris.

“I was probably doing something silly on the sideline trying to see the game out. I do need to watch the DVD and have a look at the situation, but I don’t Angus’ sending off to take the shine off a fantastic three points.”

“We’re on a great little run now and long may it continue. I’m delighted. We didn’t have the best start, conceding a goal which we are very disappointed with.

“What happens is one thing but how you react to what happens is another thing and the latter’s what’s important.

“I still think Chester’s position in the table is a false one and Neil has done a fantastic job.

“If you can find some consistency, which we are finding at the moment, you need to grab hold of it. I’m over the moon, don’t get me wrong, but we have to prepare for Tuesday’s clash with Braintree now.”
