Woodhouse snaps up double badminton titles
SALISBURY-BASED badminton player and coach Simon Woodhouse picked up two titles for the first time in a single year at the Wiltshire Restricted Badminton Tournament held at Christie Miller Sport Centre last month.
The men’s singles and men’s doubles, with partner Gary Davies (Swindon BC), were won without dropping a set.
Woodhouse, pictured right, lost narrowly in the semi-final of the mixed doubles with Alice Walters (Chippenham 23 BC) to the eventual winners. Jason Plant (Stonehenge BC) reached his first final in the men’s doubles and won the mixed doubles plate with Nicky Robertson (Salisbury BC).
She also teamed up with Veronique Manook (Salisbury BC) and reached the semi-finals of the ladies’ doubles.
Gary Bates (Stonehenge BC) won the plate for the men’s singles.
Presenting the trophies was Brian White, record 51-time county title holder (pictured left).
Woodhouse’s double took him to seven in total.
