PREMIER Division leaders The Wanderers sent a message out to the rest of their opponents with a comprehensive 10-0 mauling of Nomansland & Landford at Victoria Park.
Nick Newman, returning to the side, grabbed the opener on ten minutes. Adam Jones made it 2-0 with a blazing strike from 18 yards, before Newman's fierce strike was well saved but ricocheted in off a defender.
Newman did claim his second before half time with a neat finish, and completed his hat trick from close range on 55 minutes.
Jones hit his second, before Steph Tinkler nodded in his first headed goal in over five seasons to the surprise and jubilation of his team mates. Gaz Hooker, Russ Parsons and Newman with his fourth ensured the league leaders reached a perfect ten.
Manager Liam McConnell said afterwards: “I felt sorry for Nomansland, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“The lads were simply outstanding going forward. Adam Jones and Nick Newman were particularly terrific - unplayable at times.
“We were relentless but I must give credit to the boys at the back. Graham Kitley in goal made some excellent saves. You could tell a clean sheet was as important as scoring today. That's always pleasing for a manager to see.”
In Division One, Amesbury Kings Arms won 1-0 at Durrington WMC (pictured), with a first-half goal.
Durrington Dynamos reached the Morrison Cup semi-finals with a 5-0 victory at Porton Sports. Mike Budd missed a one-on-one when the score was only 1-0, and Durrington capitalised, hitting four more without reply.
