SALISBURY RFC are slipping back into losing ways after being thrashed 57-8 by mid-table Grove at the halfway point in South West 1 (East).

Despite the exhortations of a sizeable support, and a good firsthalf, Salisbury couldn’t keep up with their high-flying opponents.

The city side contested fiercely and were in touch at the break, going in just 14-8 down through a try from flyer Drew White and a Euan Quinn penalty.

Desperate to get a result Salisbury were pressing hard when an interception handed the visitors a score and they never took their foot off the pedal throughout the second period, running in a further seven tries to no reply – despite a considerable amount of endeavour from the hosts.

Neil Loader’s side remain confident that they can salvage something from this season but clocking up a clutch of results needs to start thick and fast, with Marlow being their next stop on Saturday.

SALISBURY Colts travelled to fellow top three side Wimborne and returned 31-12 victors on Sunday.

Prop Richard Cox crashed over for the first score before Jack Gurney broke down the right wing shrugging off a string of Wimborne tackles to score under the posts, Seb Eades adding the conversion. Wimborne pulled a score back before the break but the visitors turned round 7-12 to the good and went on to claim a convincing victory.

THE under 14s visited Wimborne on Sunday and avenged a narrow defeat earlier in the season with a 24-7 win.
