SALISBURY Colts braved the testing weather conditions to emerge victorious in Dorset and Wilts under 18 Championship match.

In the 5-11 win over Royal Wootton Bassett on Sunday, Natt Armstrong opened the Colts’ account with a penalty after early pressure.

A skilful break by the Salisbury backs, well supported by the pack, saw captain Henry Toomer over for a score in the corner and a 0-8 lead at half time. Salisbury kept their foot on the gas and further pressure led to a Seb Eades penalty and the gap remained at 11 points until the final five minutes when Bassett pulled one back.

This was just reward for a Colts side who comprise a number of under 17s in their line up and were bold enough to introduce a few under 16 players at half time.

SALISBURY Hockey Club’s under 16s closed the season with an emphatic home win against New Milton, securing top place in the Hampshire League.

Finding the net in the 6-2 victory was Tim Garston, Jacomb Hansford (2), Nick Easterbrook, Charlie Cox-Martin and Henry Emmett.
