TWENTY-EIGHT enthusiasts from Sarum Orienteering competed in a recent flagship international event.
The Jan Kjellstrom Memorial event involved more than 3,000 competitors competing across four days.
Wiltshire’s club of the year put in some sterling performances, one of which came from Lucy Butt. She came fifth in the women’s 20 Elite class and won two individual races on Merthyr Common and Llangynidr to become W20 Elite champion.
And, running with clubmates Jack Benham and Ben Chesters, she won the short course relay event at Pwll Du. Other successes came from Jackie Butt (1st W50S), Peter Hambleton (1st M70S) Ben Chesters, (2nd M20L), Sam Giles (3rd M20L), Charlotte Thornton (4th W65S), Ricky Thornton (6th M70S) and Alan Yeadon (9th M75 sprint).
- Butt has been selected to represent Great Britain in the 2013 World Universities Orienteering Championships in Czech Republic between August 12 to 16.
