RUSHMORE Golf Club’s Ben Stow became the English Amateur Stroke Play champion with a 14 under par one stroke victory over fellow England teammates Ashley Chesters and Ryan Evans.
With an international field of 156 top golfers, the championship was played at a sun-baked Seaton Carew Golf Club, County Durham.
The Rushmore golfer holed a 17 foot putt on 17 and a 10 footer on 18 to make the 14 under total and clinch the Brabazon Trophy.
The victory adds Stow’s name to a distinguished list, which includes Masters’ winners Sandy Lyall and Charl Schwartzel, and places the Rushmore golfer in a great position going into final of open qualifying at Hillside, in Southport.
