SOUTH Wilts are within one win of a second consecutive Southern Electric twenty20 Cup final appearance under the Ageas Bowl floodlights.

They beat Basingstoke & North Hants by 32 runs to join Havant, Lymington and Sarisbury Athletic in the hat for the semi-finals on Sunday, August 3.

South Wilts will know their semi-final opponents before anyone else as the draw is being made live during the vice president's lunch at Bemerton today at 2pm.

The cup holders had to overcome three early setbacks - all inflicted by the impressive Martin James (3-19) before their innings got into gear.

Stand-in skipper James Hayward, pictured above, (48) was twice missed before his fourth-wicket stand with Jack Mynott (52) shaped the eventual 151-9 total. Mynott held the innings together with a quality half-century.

Basingstoke threatened while Dan Coombs (37) and Chris Froud (27) were batting, but South Wilts were always on top.

Once again, Jake Foley came to the party with his leg spin, his 5-24 return sending the Bountymen to 119 all out and into the semi-final draw.
