GOALKEEPING sensation Alana Mercer starred in action for England under 16s at the Five Nations Tournament.
Damerham’s sport star safeguarded her team’s goalmouth against Germany, Holland, Belgium and Spain at Nottingham’s Beeston Hockey Club.
Alana’s final appearance was against Spain, where she played exceptionally well despite her country going down 2-0.
“Spain created two or three chances early on that were dealt with well by goalkeeper Alana and we were very much still in it,” said head coach Marc Bourhill.
“But the quick Spanish forward capitalised on a misplaced pass just before half-time to give them the lead.”
“We dominated parts of the second half and created a number of circle entries and had three or four good chances on goal, but just didn’t quite connect.”
