SOUTH Newton maintained winning ways with a hard-fought victory over Stockton and Codford.

Billy Poole pounced on a through ball to net his third goal in as many games to give South Newton a priceless 1-0 victory in Salisbury and District Premier League.

South Newton manager Keith Darling said: “We were put under a lot of pressure throughout the game today, but I am delighted we managed to hold out for the win.”

“I must give a special mention to Kevin Jordan in goal, who was in superb form. On another day Codford could easily have scored two or three goals, so Kevin and the whole team can be proud of the clean sheet and victory.”
