BEMERTON Heath Harlequins have been drawn away to Wessex Premier high-fliers Blackfield and Langley in the second round of the FA Vase.

The Western Way outfit will continue their bid for Vase glory after skipper Jack Slade and Scott Joyce hit the net in a solid 2-0 win over Cowes Sports on Saturday.

First round victory over the Wessex Division One side has earned Harlequins £900 in prize money. A further £1,200 is up for the taking if Harlequins, who advanced to the last 16 two seasons ago, seal victory at Blackfield, fifth in the league, on Saturday, November 22 (3pm).

Verwood Town, also 2-0 winners at home to Fareham Town, face Plymouth Parkway at Potterne Park.

Elsewhere, Ringwood Town were knocked out after slumping to a 1-3 defeat to United Services Portsmouth.

WESSEX DIVISION ONE:

Amesbury Town made it seven wins from nine competitive league matches with a 4-1 rout at home to previous leaders Fleet Spurs.

Irresistible Danny Finnigan collected a brace, and Eddie Perrett and newcomer Nic Turpin, on his Blues return, pushed Amesbury into second place, now one point behind leaders Tadley Calleva.

Hapless Downton, meanwhile, lost for the sixth straight time in the league, losing a five-goal extravaganza to Pewsey Vale 2-3 at Wick Lane.

The Robins have now picked up a mere two points from eight matches on their return to Division One.
