LAVERSTOCK and Ford have a chance to put behind their league woes when they host a last-ditch change of opposition in the Wiltshire Senior Cup today (3pm).

Lavvy were scheduled to lock horns with Purton but, after the Hellenic side were expelled from the competition after featuring an ineligible player in a recent league match, now face reinstated Marlborough Town.

With last weekend’s Salisbury Hospital Cup tie with Sarum Youth Seniors not going ahead, Lavvy have had just under a fortnight to prepare for the cup tie.

The Dell outfit sealed their place in this stage of the cup by smashing four past Pewsey Vale and, if they can win on home turf again against Marlborough, from Wiltshire Premier League, they will reach the quarter-finals.

Laverstock manager Robbie Lakeman believes it would be enjoyable for his side, who have picked up just three points in the league back in August, to embark on a cup journey.

He said: “Today’s cup game against Marlborough will be another good test for us.”

“It would be nice to have a good run in the cup as they are games we can go into without pressure and enjoy them, which allows us to try out a few different things and look at ways to improve in the league.”
