IT was a fruitless trip to Trowbridge for Sarum Youth Seniors.
Dave Rawkins’ side returned emptyhanded as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to Trowbridge Wanderers in Wiltshire Premier League.
An Archie Lovegrove volley gave Sarum the lead before the hosts equalised before half time.
Then a second half collapse saw the visitors concede two goals in five minutes.
Pete Fletcher bravely pulled one back with a header but the visiting outfit couldn’t muster a leveller.
“We deserved at least a point from the game for the attitude and effort every player put in,” Rawkins insisted.
“The testing conditions did not help the way we played football so it was a case of battling it out, but I was really pleased with the way we stood up to the physical challenge and gave as good as we got.”
Sarum are now 14th in the Wiltshire Premier League.
