THE Wanderers needed an additional 30 minutes to shrug off Devizes Inn and reach the semi final of the Premier Cup.

The two in form sides of the Salisbury & District Premier (Saturday) League took to the battle pitch for the second time in two weeks, this time in cup action.

The visitors’ squad was severely tested, missing six key players from their side and manager Liam McConnell handed a debut to 16-year-old Dan Taylor Minton and there was a return to action for Ryan Davis.

The Wanderers deservedly took the lead on 32 minutes when Nick Newman played in Tim Fewins who slotted home his ninth of the season.

Five minutes after the interval Luke Arnold was on hand to find the leveller and, like in their league encounter, at normal time it finished one a piece.

Extra time called and Fewins’s second restored The Wanderers’ lead as the first period ended 2-1.

The next goal was pivotal and Michael Pratt’s volley followed shortly after by man of the moment Newman’s long range effort, which secured the 1-4 victory.

Player/manager McConnell said: “With so many key figures missing, we were really tested but huge credit goes to this team, all 11 were superb and deserve to be in the semi final after working so hard.”

The Wanderers will face Stockton and Codford, 5-0 winners over Cedars FC, for a place in the final.
