SALISBURY Hockey firsts moved into third in Hampshire Division One with a 6-0 rout over an ill-tempered University of Portsmouth.

Visiting Salisbury missed a hatful of chances in the first half but managed to take a one-goal cushion into the break through MacTaggart.

Then Pompey fell apart in the second half, losing their discipline after six players were sin binned and Salisbury pounced with five further goals.

MacTaggart struck again, Max Grossmith hit a brace and goals from Hugo Trafford, on his final appearance, and Jason Gupta finished off the struggling hosts.

Salisbury fourths also tasted victory, defeating Hampshire side Basingstoke Vikings 2-1, with goals either side of the half from James Palmer and David Hillier.

  • A Nathan Reeman double and an individual strike from Edward Wade weren't enough for Salisbury under 12s boys to secure all three points after conceding at the death in a 3-3 stalemate.
