IAN Chalk was left bewildered with Bemerton Heath Harlequins falling to a shock 5-0 Wessex Premier defeat at Brockenhurst.

A fantastic finish from Will Tickle gave the hosts a perfect start inside five m i n u t e s and the visitors came back fighting, m u s t e r i n g chances of their own, one of which fell to Jamie Waters.

But missing out on an equaliser proved costly for the Western Way outfit, particularly in the second half.

A horrid 26 minutes saw Bemerton concede four goals, Daryll Phillips and Bradley Magookin getting two apiece.

Ian Chalk lamented: “I’ve not seen anything like it before in all my time in football.

“The scoreline says we have been hammered but I can honestly say we deserved at least a point from the game. We created more chances and played far better than we have done for sometime.

I've never seen so many freak goals in one game and so many one-on-ones missed in my life!

“Take nothing away from Brockenhurst, though, they are a terrific side with great pace and could have scored eight themselves - it was an incredible game. I'm disappointed with a few aspects of our play but I can't blame the lads too much, they just need to cut out a few silly errors and take a few of the chances we create.”
