SALISBURY City FC prodigy Matt Tubbs, pictured above, was under the FA Cup spotlight again after featuring in AFC Wimbledon’s glamour tie with Liverpool.

The targetman, who reached red-hot form for the Whites with 107 goals in more than 248 appearances, lined up against the likes of England’s Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson in the third round tie on Monday night.

Tubbs, 30, netting Salisbury’s equaliser against Nottingham Forest in 2006, nearly found his scoring boots in the illustrious competition.

The striker, on loan at the League Two outfit has now been recalled by parent club AFC Bournemouth, came close to becoming a hero with chances at an atmospheric Cherry Red Records Stadium.

But, despite his teammate Adebayo Akinfenwa finding a goal, a brace from Liverpool stalwart Gerrard secured a 2-1 victory and a place in the fourth round for Brendan Rogers’ men.
