SARUM Youth Seniors were stuck with a point after being pegged back twice by suffering Marlborough Town in Wiltshire League Premier Division.
An instinctive breakthrough from Mitch Alford inside 45 seconds put Sarum in the ascendancy but the hosts restored parity 15 minutes later.
The leveller spurred Sarum on and Jake Chambers reacted quickest to the home keeper’s error to regain the lead.
Marlborough, involved in a relegation scrap, were desperate to equalise again and did so when a defensive error gave them a penalty which they duly converted.
Sarum Manager Dan Cousins, pictured, admitted he was pleased with a point following the Christmas rest.
“After a long break, I was pleased to pick up a point,”
he said. “I think our focus slipped which allowed Marlborough to equalise.
“The team showed that even after a few weeks off, their determination was still there and this gives me great hope for a positive result on Saturday when we face top of the league (Ludgershall Sports FC).
“I am always pleased that even when we don't play to our usual standard, we can still come away with a point.”
