SOUTH Newton & Wishford kept up the pressure on leaders Alderbury with an unstoppable 5-1 win at Cedars FC.

A superb hat-trick from Charlie Lee and goals from Richard Tutton and Adam Payne rounded off the victory.

Player/manager Keith Darling said: “I was pleased with the performance after a shaky start. Once we settled down we scored some cracking goals. Big Charlie was on fire.

Some of the goals were proper team goals and the build-up play in some phases was first rate.”

The win moves South Newton into second place in the Salisbury and District Premier Division standings.

Elsewhere in the top division, Chalke Valley played out a goalless draw with Devizes Inn and Amesbury Kings Arms defeated bottom side Sarum Youth Seniors Reserves 2-1.

In Division One, Deacon Alms registered their third win on the bounce after a bitty 2-1 victory over rivals Railway SC.

Rich Daley opened the scoring for the Deacons, capitalising on a poor pass from the Railway defence to finish calmly.

The Railway equalised through former Deacons man Anthony Papa, but the hosts wrapped up the points with a sweet finish from Rich’s younger brother, Nick.

Other results: Durrington WMC 0-1 West Harnham and Value Cars 2-6 Stockton & Codford Reserves.
