FOOTBALLERS at St Nicholas Primary School were full of cheer after finishing runners-up at the Wiltshire Small School County Finals.
After beating St Andrew’s, from Laverstock, the Porton-based school went onto the final at Stanley Park, Chippenham, where they came up against Trowbridge’s Southwick Primary School.
Despite a valiant effort, they lost the final in the closing stages after conceding.
Head teacher Sandy Smith said: “Team coach Leanne Smith and I are immensely proud of the team, not just for becoming runners-up in a county final but for the sportsmanship, courage and commitment they showed throughout the tournament.”
