LAVERSTOCK and Ford were completely outplayed by a rampant Cowes Sports, who inflicted a replica 6-0 reverse in Wessex Division One.
The visitors’ suffering on the Isle of Wight started within 15 minutes as they found themselves three goals behind.
Another goal before the break meant they entered the interval 4-0 down and were left scratching their heads.
The second half followed in the same pattern as Laverstock’s defence was under constant pressure from Cowes’ front line, which added two more before full-time.
“To say it was a bad day at the office would be an understatement,” admitted boss Robbie Lakeman.
“Cowes beat us by the same scoreline at home and seem to be somewhat of a bogey side for us as we haven’t turned up for either game.
“To be fair to them, though, they are a good side and one which will be in the mix to go up at the end of the season.”
“We were massively disappointed by our own performance but it’s come in the middle of a tough run of games and we aren’t used to playing midweek and Saturdays which has been the case for the past two weeks.”
“We have to be better, and more consistent, it’s as simple as that.”
Amesbury Town and Laverstock were both knocked out of the Wiltshire Senior Cup after losing to Highworth Town 4-0 and Bradford Town 4-2 respectively.
The two locked horns in the league last night.
