A TEENAGER from the Salisbury area has been arrested on suspicion of sending a racist tweet aimed at Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.
The Tweet was posted after the player scored the winning goal in Arsenal’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against his former club Manchester United on March 9.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of racial abuse and released on bail until April 13, Wiltshire Police said.
A spokesman for Arsenal FC said: “As a club we work hard to create an inclusive environment and do not tolerate discriminatory behaviour of any type.”
Police said the boy was from a small village near Salisbury, but would not say which, for fear of identifying him.
