FONTHILL Estate was the venue for Sarum Orienteers’ regional qualifying round of the Compass Sport Cup (large clubs) and Trophy (small clubs) competition.
Four-hundred and twenty orienteers from across 10 clubs got stuck into a variety of classes, on Sunday with the brown course being 9km and the orange course being 2.7km .
Results were decided for the large clubs by combining the scores of the best 25 runners and for small clubs, the best 13 runners.
The large club competition was won by Bristol Orienteering Club with 2,546 points. In the small club competition, Wimborne came first (1,285 points) while home club Sarum, who were hampered by several crucial absentees, came third (1251).
Bristol and Wimborne will go on to the final in October at Helsington Burrows.
