A BUSINESS development manager made a phenomenal start to his 2015 racing season at Rockingham Motor Speedway after winning both Nippon Challenge races in his Toyota Speedster Turbo.

Shrewton’s Rob Horsfield picked his way through the field in race one and was leading by lap five, only to be overtaken by his main rival Jim Janaki in a very powerful Nissan Skyline.

He battled back, though and, as the pair came to overtake some back markers, Horsfield nipped back ahead. He then held out during the remaining laps for his maiden win of the new campaign.

Race two’s grid was decided by the result from race one. Horsfield started in pole position and dominated from lights to flag, recording a fast lap on the way.

He said: “It is brilliant to get off to such a good start.”

“I had my car rebuilt over the winter, and you never know how reliable, or how fast it’s going to be from race one. We just need to make a few small improvements, and I could be in for a really great season.”

He is going to be racing in both Track Attack Racing club’s Nippon Challenge and the 750 Motor Club’s Roadsports series this year. His next race will be on Saturday, May 2 in the Roadsports series at Silverstone.
