TEAM Wiggins will be one of 11 professional teams that will make up the peloton of the Cycle Wiltshire Grand Prix.

The newly formed squad of young British riders will go up against 120 other professional cyclists through the streets of Salisbury and South Wiltshire - however the team's founder Sir Bradley Wiggins has yet to confirm if he will be at the start line.

The race starts at 10am on Sunday, May 10 with team introductions outside the Guildhall before rolling off towards Wilton for the official start.

It will then make ten laps of Wilton with race set to be decided by the challenging climb of Fovant Hill. Among the riders will be last year’s winner Marcin Białobłocki, who will be keen to retain his crown.

The event is part of the council’s Legacy for Wiltshire initiative, which focuses on encouraging people to keep fit and active, bringing local communities together and boosting the local economy.

Jane Scott, leader of Wiltshire Council and chair of the Legacy Steering Board said: “I’m sure lots of people will be thrilled to see the riders compete and I know many have also taken up the challenge on May 9 to cycle one our Sportive rides. The whole weekend promises to be exciting, active and a lot of fun.”
