SHREWTON United produced their best performance of the season as they comfortably beat FC ChippenhamYouth 3-1 at Hardenhuish Park.

The visitors were dominant with Craig Lewis and Nathan Osgood a constant threat.

The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute as Carlos Downie beat two players before crossing for Lewis, who quickly guided the ball into the path of Joey Weeks, who slammed home for a 1-0 lead.

Their one-goal advantage was doubled before the break as once again Lewis caused problems in the Chippenham defence before setting Osgood up to finish.

In the second half, Shrewton continued to dominate and twice Lewis miscued when through on goal. In the 80th minute a quick counter-attack saw the hosts make it 2-1. However, the points were secured moments later when Weeks grabbed his second and Shrewton’s third after a stunning 25-yard volley gave the home goalkeeper no chance.

Manager Scott Young said: “We fully deserved the three points.”

Shrewton go to Trowbridge Town tonight (6.15pm) and then Devizes on Saturday (3pm).
