A CHARITY football tournament and beer festival is taking place this weekend at Cedars Bar & Golf Centre on Wilton Road to help raise money for the Salisbury Hospice.

The Johnson Cup is now in its third year having been held in memory of Lyn Futcher who lost her battle with breast cancer two years ago aged 44.

Her husband Grieg hopes to raise £3,000 for the charity and hopes for a big turnout from the public.

The eight team tournament is sponsored by Johnson Dry Cleaners and during the day there will be a bouncy castle, beer, live music and a raffle.

He said: "Laverstock & Amesbury have been involved since the start and this year we have teams made up by friends of ours and my eldest son who was 15 when he lost his mother is entering a team and my middle son will be playing for him."

Greig has also been growing his beard for charity and plans to get it shaved off on the day.
