CITY of Salisbury’s Stuart Holloway set a cracking pace on the rolling hills of the Alton 10mile race in the Hampshire league series and only two others could stay ahead of him.

One of them, Winchester’s Toby Lambert, recorded an outstanding win in 52min 45sec that sets him up for this season’s league championship, which ends next month.

In second place was Daniel O’Boyle, winner of the Salisbury 10mile in March. Half a minute behind came Holloway finishing in 55.21 for a well-deserved third spot.

Rithy Hy was the club’s second team counter with 63.02, Mike White was next in 71.47 and Adam Bradburn completed the quartet in 72.20.

Nick Hudson crossed the line in 83.31, then came Liz Roberts with 87.23, Jane Whiteley 88.42, Colin Martin 104.57 and big Will Witt with a determined 106.24.

Sunday sees a continuation of the club’s battle to restore its league table standings for the Netley 10k the penultimate fixture, alongside Southampton Water.

n THREE Salisbury Tri Club members raced at the Swashbuckler Triathlon in the New Forest.

Mark Jacobs was placed 34th in a good field, with Chris Goodall not too far behind in 60th. Jo Bailey secured first place in her category in the duathlon race at the same event.
