EIGHT Salisbury Stingrays swimmers set a string of speedy times at Plymouth Life Centre which marked an eventful ASA South West Region Youth Championships.

Over the three days, sixteen-year-old Luke Demetri, competing in the 200m breaststroke, advanced to the open age group finals and came seventh overall.

Luke also made it to the finals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke where he gained personal best times and creditable fifth and sixth places, respectively.

Qualifying in nine stroke disciplines in the 15-year-old age group was Sidney Fenwick, 14, who also made it to the finals in the 50m breaststroke, coming fifth in 50m freestyle, eighth in 200m freestyle and sixth in the 200m individual medley, gaining some pbs.

Natalie Sainsbury, 15, competed in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle and the 50m butterfly.

Jessica Cusack did well to qualify for the 50m backstroke having been in and out of the pool for much of the season, but did very well in the 15-year-old age group.

Also competing in the open age group were Phoebe Wing, who swam in the 50m and 100m freestyle, James Stocks-Reid in the 100m and 200m freestyle and 50m and 100m butterfly, Robert Langan in the 50m and 100m backstroke and Sam Greenslade in the 200m breaststroke.
