SHREWTON moved into third spot in Hampshire League County Division 1 after chasing down a Burridge total of 243-7 to win by two wickets with time to spare.

Will Sleeman (49) and Sam Gillot (37) overcame the early loss to Rich Barnett to put the Shrews in a good position.

But it was Dan Bingley (47) and, specifically, skipper Chris Brewer who laid the middle-order foundation for Shrewton’s second win in three.

Earlier, Sugi Wickmanisingh’s 82 underpinned the Burridge total, though a hard hit 45 from Clive Slaughter meant Shrewton were chasing a larger target than they might have wished.
