PROLIFIC Salisbury FC sent out a message to the Wessex Premier after flattening Bournemouth Poppies with a remarkable 9-1 annihilation to shuffle into third place.

Four goals from Sam Wilson, a brace from Ashley Jarvis and strikes from Calum Brockway, Brandon Mundy and trailist Jack Maloney made it a hat-trick of wins for boss Steve Claridge on an historic night.

Like on similar occasions, though, Salisbury were frustrated in the opening 10 minutes as a Thomas Whelan free kick was tipped over the bar and Wilson was denied on the line.

But it wasn't long before the floodgates opened.

Brockway's aerial prowess saw him hang over everyone and steer a header into the top corner on the 13th minute, five minutes before Munday dribbled through for a second.

Wilson touched home Danny Young's low cross and Jarvis was also on hand to knock home from close range to dismantle the Dorset visitors by the break.

Jarvis completed his brace six minutes after the resumption with a simple finish and was later joined by Wilson, who got Whites' sweet sixth.

Diop Evans pulled one back for the struggling visitors with their maiden goal of the campaign.

But, shortly afterwards, Poppies' rearguard was bulging again and three more goals were on their way to sustain the excitement being watched by 582 fans - the lowest attendance at the Ray Mac so far.

Registered but not signed Maloney, 20, who came through the Pompey youth ranks and made ten senior appearances in a three-year spell, teed up Wilson for his hat-trick but guided his free header wide of the post.

Jarvis, also tracking the match ball, came close with a header.

But Wilson's next effort nestled into the corner for his hat-trick and Salisbury's seventh.

A low strike saw him bag a fourth before Maloney struck off the post for number nine.

Salisbury, free at the weekend, host Verwood Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm), providing the Potters avoid a draw in their FA Cup game on Saturday with Almondsbury UWE.
