SOUTH Wilts thirds returned to their winning ways with a convincing victory at home over Hursley Park seconds.
Asked to field first, the home side restricted mid-table Hursley to 228 all out, Sam Burton pick of the bowler with figures of 4-29 from his ten overs.
Chasing a par score on the club’s Academy ground, Lewis Rutledge added 29 at the top of the order. Steve Kidd was the main contributor, scoring a typically aggressive 51, but it was an impressive performance from South Wilts’ middle order that sealed the win with five overs to spare. Both Iestyn Williams (46) and Jon Burton (46*) adding valuable runs. Jody Everett’s team take up fourth in County Division 3 North going into the last week of the season.
The fourths faced what proved to be a difficult away trip to Parley seconds.
Batting first, Parley were restricted to 216 from their 42 overs, Josh Croom picking up 3-38. In reply, South Wilts required a rain reduced 191 from 34 overs, contributions from captain Trevor Pittman (35), Harrison Tyler (27) and Lawrence Hely (25) proved to be shy of the target -110-7.
