THERE were high fives all around the Ray Mac as Salisbury FC propelled to the Wessex Premier summit after dismantling managerless Verwood Town.

Fourteen goals in the space of two games has given the Whites a superior goal difference at the top over the leading group of Horndean, Blackfield and Langley and Andover Town.

An Ashley Jarvis penalty, Sam Wilson, Thomas Whelan, a Dean Evans own goal and Kane O'Keefe helped Whites seal their fourth win on the trot.

Similarly to last week, Steve Claridge's men came roaring out of the blocks.

Jarvis got into a good scoring position inside the box before being tripped twice by captain Ashley Jarvis. The first he regained his footing but immediately after he flopped to the ground and a penalty was awarded in the opening 14 minutes.

Adam Tong guessed the right way (bottom corner) but Jarvis' angled drive was placed out of reach.

An attractive passage of play resulted in a third as the half hour mark had reached. Kane O'Keefe spotted Claudio Herbert on the right wing and a first time cross was nodded down by Danny Young for Sam Wilson to pelt home.

The Potters, who lost boss Carl Poore last week after he handed his resignation in and were being looked after by Matt Groves, were struggling to find their groove but came close when Russell Dyer knocked the woodwork with a stinging free kick.

At the opposite end, a similarly placed free kick was awarded to Whites. The former Potterne Park man Whelan hovered around it and curled round the wall to see the ball fumbled into the net by Tong.

Four minutes after the break O'Keefe's header from Herbert's cross was directed home by Evans.

And 20 minutes on, O'Keefe got his goal with a towering header from a cross by Jack Maloney, who is still under trial for Claridge.

Eddie Perrett and O'Keefe both threatened the Verwood rearguard for a sixth, which never came.
