A DOUBLE figure scoreline was racked up by holders Salisbury City Under-16s as they eased into the next round of the Hampshire Cup.

The defending champions blasted ten goals past Hawley Youth on Saturday at Bulford 3G pitch in the first stage of the competition.

Salisbury started the game with purpose and speed, creating a host of chances although failing to score.

Hawley, who play in the East Berkshire league, defended resolutely and kept Salisbury at bay until Josh Sommerton scored to put the Whites 1-0 ahead.

The first half continued with Salisbury pressing for a second but the team from Berkshire would not concede.

Whites manager Richard Rendall made some key second half changes to the midfield with Alex Kaunda and Louis Rendall having an instant impact. Salisbury started moving the ball around quicker and it wasn’t long before the goals started to flow.

Five goals from George Higgins, including one from the penalty spot to make it seven goals in two games, Louis Rendall's brace, Alex Kaunda and Matty Gunstone Gray all fired before Hawley netted a consolation to make it 10-1.
