BEMERTON Heath Harlequins' unbeaten run in September was pierced after George Way's majestic strike collected a victory by the finest of margins for Moneyfields.

The midfielder produced the only moment of class for a 1-0 win after Jack Lovell had been denied by the crossbar.

Way, on 55 minutes, gathered the ball on the edge of the area and, with time and space, picked his spot in the top corner, which was way out of shotstopper Joe Prodomo's reach.

Bemerton looked to get back into the game and thought they had mustered a leveller when Graham Mankin rose highest from a corner but his header crashed off the underside of the bar and looked to bounce over the line but the referee waved play on.

Bemerton kept pushing and in the last minute it should have arrived, yet desperate defending and bad finishing in a frantic scramble meant Bemerton left Money' sports ground empty-handed.

Boss Graham Kemp, whose side had won three of their last four games coming into the clash, said: "We didn't play too bad and I feel disappointed as it was there for the taking."

"It's about taking our chances when they come. We have a little break now to work on a few things before our FA Vase game."

Standing in Heath's way of reaching the first round proper is promotion-seeking Andover Town a week Saturday (3pm).
