SALISBURY City Under-16s revelled in glory after coming out on top after a see-saw showdown at home to Basingstoke Town.

The hosts responded from falling behind to Rory Williams’ opener through George Higgins and Alex Kaunda.

Basingstoke hit back with real purpose and pushed Salisbury back. Basingstoke won a free kick which Salisbury did not clear and Williams scored his and Basingstoke’s second goal.

The visitors sparked into life after the leveller and went ahead in the game with James Reid’s effort crashing in off the underside of the crossbar.

Salisbury were again quick to respond with a good passing move between Joe Dixon and Louis Rendall, ending with the latter coolly slotting the ball past the Basingstoke keeper.

Higgins had a good run on goal and scored to put Salisbury back in the lead at 4-3.

Josh Sommerton then extended their lead before Cameron Styles created a nervy finish but Kaunda’s second made sure of the win with a sixth.
